Takehiro Kasahara, DMD, PhD

Takehiro Kasahara, DMD, PhD, graduated from the Tohoku University School of Dentistry in Japan in 1995 whereby he earned his DDS. He went on to study oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Graduated School of Tohoku University. He completed the program and received his PhD in 1999. From there, Dr. Kasahara began studies at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine, in 2001.He graduated in 2003 with the title DMD.

Upon graduation, Dr. Kasahara accepted a residency program of oral and maxillofacial surgery at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. Completion of the residency in 2007 granted Dr. Kasahara the status as an official oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He then accepted a fellowship for facial reconstruction at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2009, and completed the fellowship the following year. He earned Board Certification in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 2011.

After receiving Board Certification, Dr. Kasahara accepted a position as an attending physician at St. Luke-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, New York. He is currently in private practice with Dr. Brian F. Bovino, DMD, and remains affiliated with St. Luke-Roosevelt Hospital Center where he provides a full range of oral and maxillofacial surgeries.

Brian F. Bovino, DMD

Brian F. Bovino, DMD received his dental degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry in 1985. He completed a general practice residency in dentistry at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City in 1986. He served as Fellow in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn New York, finishing in 1987. In 1990, he completed formal residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City.

Dr. Bovino has been in private practice since 1990. In addition, he has held academic positions at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, first as Clinical Coordinator of residency training followed by Section Chief, Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. In 2004 he became Director of the Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and residency training at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital. In his current position, he serves as a member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee and Operating Room Committee.

He is licensed to practice full scope oral & maxillofacial surgery and administer in-office general anesthesia in New York and New Jersey. He is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 1993 and he has completed re-certification in 2011. He was a Clinical Associate Professor at Columbia University School of Dentistry & Oral Surgery. He is a member of various societies including the American Dental Association, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Member of the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology. He is Secretary to the Board of the New York State Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.

His practice includes full scope oral & maxillofacial surgery with emphasis in maxillofacial trauma, jaw reconstruction, corrective jaw surgery, bone grafting, implantology, and sleep apnea.
